The title pretty much says it all, but check out the essay anyway.

This is my long YA novel about how a geeky kid wins the heart of a troubled girl through his roleplaying campaign. Set in Oregon in the eighties, it incorporates a lot of my childhood obsessions. Thanks for taking a look. (Oh, my friend Alex Lamb wrote a long SF novel, which I hope he'll post, titled "Age of Demons." "Age of Monsters" is a working title, and I obviously need a new one.) I have posted the first three chapters of the second draft. Note that you can check out the reviews on the previous draft/s.

The Old Master embodies wu wei, doing much by doing little, cooperating with the Tao to defeat assassins, sorcerers, and Netherworld monsters. However, his crowning achievement is much more domestic. Originally published in the Back for Seconds supplement for the Feng Shui roleplaying system.

Forget "show versus tell." The more general rule is make the readers think they've seen.

This is my first wholly original story for the story-a-week challenge. My personal issue has been weaning myself off Facebook to write fiction; that gave me the idea explored here. What if Facebook really perfected its game?

An argument by a writer and editor that self-publishing is not merely a waste of time, but is actively disadvantageous to a writer and the writer's work.
